Reforesting Fuerteventura

The Fuerteventura Department of the Environment has handed out free of charge various tree specimens to half a thousand people. According to Diario de Fuerteventura, the aim of this initiative is to contribute to the reforestation of the island, coinciding with the celebration of Arbor Day. This free delivery has been carried out at the Biological Station of La Oliva and the Betancuria nursery. The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Marcial Morales, and the councillor for the Environment, went to the Biological Station of La Oliva last Friday, 23rd November, where they offered specimens of carob, almácigos, canary cardon, dragon tree, spice tree, guaydil, canary incense, jorjao, canary palm, tabaibas, white tajinaste and tedera; while in the second there are dragon trees, junipers, tabaibas and Canary Island palm trees, among others.
